Town completes investment in Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium Infrastructure

8.04.2009 --

Mayor Rex Barnes announced today that the Town has completed the final piece of the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium Infrastructure project with the recent erection of the marquee sign on High Street. The sign, along with ice decking, new tables and chairs and audio visual equipment, was purchased in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA) and the provincial department of Innovation, Trade, and Rural Development (INTRD) and is valued at approximately $250,000.

The equipment now makes the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium accessible as a year round facility for special events such as conferences, regional meetings, trade shows, etc. As part of the Town’s Economic Development Objectives, an increase in this type of traffic will have significant economic spin offs for the community and the region.

The Town wishes to again thank ACOA and INTRD for their investment in this project.
